And like always, feel free to drop your questions in the chat. We'll do our best to answer them, both live and also during our closing q and a. And then I will wrap up and walk you through how to access our free learning platform. Alright. Jana and Zach, would you mind introducing yourselves? Yes or no or here I am. I don't know. My my name is Jana Gurgaon. And, like Brendan mentioned, I am an Everfi champion. I am a family and consumer sciences teacher out of Connecticut. I have been using Everfi since 2015. This is my fifteenth year I'm I'm entering in my fifteenth year teaching, and, what oh, I've taught literally kindergarten through twelfth grade, have been teaching high school the past, I don't know, three years. I'm, yeah, I'm I'm in, like, a switch right now, but, I'm been teaching high school. Middle school is my jam, and my Everfi I I do love high school though. Don't get me wrong. And my Everfi claim to fame, is through the FutureSmart program, which I wanna talk to you a little bit about a little bit about today. So I'm super excited. Awesome. Hi, everyone. My name is Zach Rowe, regional director here at Everfi, based out of, Boston, Massachusetts, and I oversee our k twelve team here throughout the Northeast in Canada. Been at Everfi for seven years, which normally feels like a long time, but then I hear how long John has been using Everfi and I I feel like I'm an Everfi rookie compared to her, which is hilarious. But yeah. So I oversee a team that works, directly with schools across the country, implementing the resources, meeting with district admin, building admin, and teachers. So very excited to share a little bit about how, we are able to roll things out at the district level. Thanks, Zach. Thanks, Jana. My name is Brennan Reiche, and my pronouns are he, him. I'm a former middle school science teacher, and I actually attended an Everfi STEM day at the Anaheim Ducks Stadium when I was a student teacher in California. So it's fun coming full circle here. And now I'm just South of Washington DC in Arlington, Virginia, where I've been at Everfi for nearly four years. And I am our k twelve product marketer. I support product launches and promote our courses to schools and districts. Very happy to be here. So I am going to pass it over. We've already might have already heard from her today. Really excited to have Jana in our session talking about Everfi in her classroom. Pass it over to you. Okay. I should probably unmute myself. So like I mentioned, I teach family consumer sciences. The past three years, I have been teaching culinary and baking and pastry arts. But in my role as an Everfi champion, because I am so passionate about Everfi and all the positive things that they do, you know, that Everfi can really contribute to a teacher's classroom. I have been working with some of my colleagues in the, business department to help them launch Everfi in their classrooms. But before I so I was at the the school the past three years. But before I was there, I was at a middle school, for seven years teaching foods, financial literacy, interior design, sewing, you name it. And, one of the things that I really found and this was, like, again, for seven years. So this was pre COVID and post COVID. And one of the things that I found was that I used FutureSmart, which is a program that is geared for middle school students, to really teach them about all the things that are finances. And what I love about what I love about the FutureSmart program is it's kind of, I don't know. In a way, it's kind I call it gamified. Some people might say it's not. But, I what I love about the program is that you don't have to do, like, all the modules because, quite honestly, I never when I put it into my curriculum, I didn't use all the modules. I only took a couple, and then I took these big, big concepts that were through or that were online and then broke them down outside of the online program into other things. And so, like, one of the big things for us here in Connecticut, we have a sales tax. And I know most most, states do. I know there are a couple couple teachers or couple teachers. Oh my gosh. Couple states that don't have sales tax, but it was really important for when for example, when EVERFI was teaching in the FutureSmart program about how to set a budget, I had to take it a step further, and I had to teach my students about sales tax because you can't have a budget without figuring out how to calculate sales tax because that's gonna mess up with your budget when you go shopping. So but the others the most important piece too is taking those kids offline. And I know we talked about it a little bit this morning as far as, like, you know, AI and and kids being so connected to their devices. How do we do that outside of you know, how do we take these good things that are online through EVERFI and do it outside, on some offline activities? So I threw in some pictures. This top left photo that you'll see, the board game, I loved it. And I saw on the chat there's a math teacher somewhere, that's that's tuning in, and that is a game called real world, real world math unexpected events. And what was super cool about this game is that it's kind of like the I guess, I've actually, I've never even played the game of life, but it's similar. Like, you you go through these little things and there are these cards, and you have to this if you see on this other picture, it says check register. It, when the students pick their cards, it'll say, like, you know, for example, you broke, your family's television. That costs you $500, and, they have to do, like, all the math, to figure out. And whoever actually has money by the end wins the game, and the kids get super into it. But one of the things that I also did with, the FutureSmart program, two things, which I didn't think to put a photo on here. There is a whole module in the FutureSmart program called smart shopping. And so, one of the things that I did, which I think Erica maybe was linked somebody was gonna link it somewhere. I created a an activity call. It was a smart shopping. It was called turn off at Target because I love me some Target. And, what I did was I turned my library into a Target. And so I took EVERFI celebration activity, which we do have digitally. It's there's a document somewhere on the web, where I took that activity, but I actually had the kids shop. And I I I went to tar I went to Target. Fortunately, I know somebody. I brought my iPad with me, and I started taking photos of the I took photos of the the price tags, and then I printed them. And I'm like, I blew them up. I laminated them. So, literally, it looked a lot. Man, I should have put photos. What what is this? Rookie hour? I, turned it into the grocery store, and the kids had so much fun. And it was all about also teaching them how to incorporate unit price and to also incorporate the budgeting piece. And they had such a great time, and it was it was just that small little hands on thing, that the the kids really loved and got into. And then another thing that I did with the future smart program is I also did glow games. And so what I did was I just took and, again, there's a link for that as well. I shared all these things with EVERFI, and all of you have access to this. But what I did was I took some of the vocab and the, you know, things that I wanted my students to learn. Again, these big concepts and now bring it into, like, a a fun review activity. And what I did was I set up my classroom into, five different stations, and I had Tic Tac Toe. I had Skee Ball. I had, I had just, like, quick matching. And the students went through they rotated through stations. Now also too with this glow games activity, I, put together an Amazon list. So, like, if you're like, hey. How do I turn my room into a glow into glow in the dark? We got you here at EVERFI because well, that's just how we do. So you can do this with with your students as well, and you could do it as big. Like, I went all out because that's just how I am as a as a person and as a teacher. You could go all out. You could tailor it too. And then lastly, another program that I've used, I know somebody mentioned it in the chat, is Venture. I love Venture because I was also teaching entrepreneurship. And this is what I worked with, this is what I worked with our business department because in my high school business department, we have entrepreneurship class. And who doesn't love food? Right? We find that a lot of people connect through food, and how do we take big concepts like entrepreneurship and bring it to the real world for kids to kind of understand. So with the venture program, it is essentially a program that teaches you entrepreneurship through creating your own food truck business. And so what I did with my students was I found a template, on some group. I I wanna say it was a Facebook group. And I found a template for a food truck. And I had my students they had to in venture. They had to create their business. But then I took it a step further, and I had them create three d models, and then they had to create their own menu. And, again, the culinary teacher and me, right, then made as part of the competition, because it's also a competition. Duh. Who doesn't want prizes and things? Right? Bingo. They had to make a menu item from the restaurant. So we're tying it all together, even just talking it out loud. Like, I'm next in this coming school year, I could easily tie this into into teaching more about food cost analysis. Again, culinary teacher. Sorry. But this photo right here is from my colleague who is a a business like, again, business department entrepreneurship teacher. And what he did with his students is he had the students do, you know, venture, and they had to then take their ideas, and they had to make trifle boards. And, the teacher invited some teachers in, you know, admin, board of ed, you name it. And they, the kids, we all walked around. And what happened was the students had to essentially do a shark tank pitch. And it was so interesting to really that was where we all and especially for me as an Everfi champion. Like, I talk about these resources, but it's so cool to see it come to life. And it was a great opportunity for me to see how these students are really grasping these concepts of entrepreneurship and, like, yeah, why are you putting, you know, why are you putting a barbecue food truck in a college in a like, on a college campus where these kids don't even have a lot of money to spend. Right? And it would I would say these things to these students, and they would it'd be interesting how some of them would actually, like, have really good points, and then others were I was like, you might wanna go back and think about that again. But there's so many opportunities. And I just so everybody knows too, I am an open book. So if you ever want to reach out, to ask, you know, questions about, you know, hey. I'm doing this. You know, what do you think? Please please please reach out because I am I am always here to help. I've had to do a lot of this stuff on my own, and now you're part of the EVERFI family, and you don't need to be alone anymore because we got you. So mhmm. Those are such great tips. I love seeing those photos from your classroom. And you're right. You're absolutely not alone. You can reach out to any of us at any point if you have any questions, or need help with accessing any of those resources that were mentioned earlier. I love seeing your creativity, Jonna. Next, I'm gonna pass it over to my colleague, Zach, to talk about a district impact story. Thanks, Brendon. Hi, everyone. So again, Zach Rowe, regional director here. Here to talk to you about a very you very interesting case, and case study for EVERFI and how our resources can be scaled at the district level to impact as many students as possible. So this is gonna be looking at our efforts and work in CSD eight, a part of New York City public schools over the past year plus. And anyone who knows anything about New York City knows it's massive. There's over a million students there. It's our largest school district in the country. So we were working closely with CSD eight, who was very interested as as much of New York City and and the country as well in scaling the use of financial literacy resources in their district. So just right here you'll see on the screen, just kinda us working with them. We were kinda mapping out which courses were gonna fit where and we'll dive into a little bit more detail on that in a moment. But one of the things that we were able to do with them is we were able to look at the variety of offerings we had from from from a financial literacy perspective, and in collaboration with them, pick the grades that we thought were gonna have the greatest fit based on the standards we're hitting, based on reading level, based on any district needs. And it was through that conversation we're also sharing with them the other things that we're able to offer. So we're able to offer curriculum alignment, we're able to support with SSO integration, which in the case of New York City public schools, they have something called TeachHub. We were able to become a fully vetted and approved resource there. So teachers were able to have their students log in through Clever and access Everfi quite easily. We were then able to work closely with the district on a rollout plan, so that all educators and, billing admin are being made aware of these new resources at the most opportune time. And then we're also able to collaborate with them on professional development. So in this rollout of courses here you can here you can see that we're talking about a few resources that John had just talked about. So at the middle school level, focusing on FutureSmart and SaveUp. And then using Venture as kind of our bridge resource from middle to high school. And then once students are in that ninth grade, they're getting that flagship Everfi financial literacy course that I think I saw a lot of people in the chat referencing as their favorite Everfi course. So that's where we give them a little bit of everything. Then we're getting into two point o courses in CSD eight with tax simulations and marketplaces and build credit fundamentals. So we're able to give students a full range of financial education through these seven years in CSD eight here. So if we go to the next slide, Brendan. We can see here the approach that we took with CSDA, and this is kind of, for my for my dollar, like the best way to go about doing things. So review, plan, train, and grow. So in the review stage, we're meeting with the district in this case and we're discussing what their needs are and we're hearing that they're really trying to prioritize financial education for middle school and high school students. So then we're presenting to the district on what we have to offer there. We're showing we're demoing some of some of our resources, we're showing the platform, showing how teachers are able to easily log in and create classes. From there, we then communicate with the district on alright. What's the next step? So then we need to meet with the planners. So then we are able to meet with all of the principals in the district, give them a preview of exactly what we have available and how they want to roll this out to their teachers. So after that, then we get together and we set up a full PD session. So this is where full district wide, wide training that we provided and we're able to do these either in person or virtual, kinda depending on where you are in the country. And we are able to interface with every single financial literacy point of contact contact at each school in the district. And we're able to tailor these sessions to be as long or as short as the district likes. So thirty minutes, sixty minutes, whatever it is, we execute on that training and then sometimes you think that's it, that's not it as far as EVERFI is concerned because we're here for the long haul, we're here to help you grow. So once that PD is done and the teachers were educated, we continue to stay in contact with the district and provide them with the data that they that they needed. They wanted to know, you know, we're trying to grow this program, we're trying to grow financial literacy in our district, is it actually happening? So we were able to provide weekly and monthly updates in terms of teachers, schools and students who are using in their district to let them know the efficacy behind all of our efforts there. And as we can see down here at the bottom, through all these efforts, through all this collaboration with CSD eight, we were able to grow the usage of financial literacy, resources in the district from 542 students to 5,647 students. And that was in the course of just one school year. I'm sure that number is gonna go up next year, but it really is just a great case study of when we work closely and in collaboration with the district to review what their needs are, to plan out the effective rollout of our resources, to execute a training for the teachers, and to provide ongoing support, what we can do with these resources and impact so many students in just one school year. So if this is something you wanna see done in a district that you're working in, please reach out to us, and we'd love to make that happen. Thanks, Zach. Yeah. I'm excited to see what next year has in store. That's just the the impact from this past school year. That's awesome. Before we wrap up, I'd love to give you a quick overview of Everfi for those that are new to us, and some new products we have for this school year. So at Everfi, we deliver research based, standards aligned, instructional resources to a network of hundreds of thousands of teachers across The United States and Canada. The curriculum addresses essential life skills, like financial literacy that we went over today, mental health, and career readiness. And I saw this question a lot on the chat and, like, I know it sounds too good to be true, but the best part is it's always free. Thanks to the generous support of hundreds of like minded organizations through the learning platform, which I'm gonna walk you through how to access. Educators can easily view real time reporting to monitor student progress and see learning gains. You'll also access companion in person lessons so you can go offline. And throughout the school year, we also offer scholarships and contests for students that take our courses. So this past school year alone, we reached a record breaking 6,500,000 students, which is truly a testament to the tens of thousands of teachers like you that use Everfi and champion life skills with their students. And you can see some photos also on the far right from a recent scholarship ceremony, as well as a STEM day, for Everfi students. So we're just really proud, to share this, and it's really not it's it's not as bragging. It's it's it's a thanks to you, for making this possible and bringing this life with your students. So in terms of our road map for 2025, several of these new lessons have recently released, and you're probably might have even used them with your students in the spring semester, such as those covering microeconomics, nonviolence for social change, and initiating financial conversations at home. Today's session, we're gonna zoom in on two workforce readiness courses as well as an exciting platform update. So as we heard in the last session, career connected learning can be incredibly impactful to students. I know I'm preaching to the choir. In fact, a systematic review from last year found that CTE programs have statistically significant positive impact on high school outcomes, such as academic achievement, employability skills, and college readiness. And notably, CTE students were more likely to be employed after high school than those who did not engage in CTE. All of this helps set the stage for the development of our two workforce readiness courses that, I'm here to talk to you about. First up, is building and moving. So we know there's a growing demand and a need for to prepare the next generation of construction, advanced manufacturing, supply chain, and transportation professionals. And with this new high school course, students explore some of these jobs and learn how to prepare for a career in this field. It also zooms in it's a pretty cool, interactive lesson. Elza zooms in on lesson two on engineering roles within the auto racing industry. These career options are industry aligned, so you don't have to worry, and they use the new national career clusters framework from last year, specifically the namesake building and moving that cluster group. Next, we know that middle school is also an important time for students to explore various career pathways and connect their passions and skills with opportunities in today's workforce and the workforce of the future. At the August, we are releasing a brand new future goals course. This is sponsored by the National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players Association. In the course, students are introduced to four careers in each lesson that illustrate a lesser side lesser known side, of professional hockey. And it challenges students to solve problems faced by people working in the featured career. Some of those roles include athletic trainers, sustainability managers, and business strategist. It's really engaging for students and, yeah, it's it's a great thing that you could build off. Let's say you're using future smart with your students. It's a great, like, two point o to use with your students to really dive into career options available to them, specifically in STEM careers or health careers. And in the spirit of innovation, this spring, EVERFI led a beta program to test a new teacher dashboard experience for educators. So our product team has been using feedback and data from this program to drive a brand new dashboard that you can try out starting in October. On screen, you'll see a preview of this new experience. You're the some of the first folks to see this. You'll notice that the dashboard has an updated design, streamlined the experience to make it easier for you to find relevant courses and content, as well as manage your classes, while maintaining some of the same some of the platform features that you've grown to love, and know familiar very well over the years. And on the back end, it it's it's not as clear at this preview, but we've also enhanced the dashboard's accessibility and mobile responsiveness. So all good stuff. In this beta program, we found that the new dashboard saved teachers time. You know how busy you are. And some of those, some of those areas that we found significant time saved, were in a few key workflows, such as navigating from the homepage to managing sorry, going from the homepage to managing student grades, as well as going from the homepage to managing student details. You can see here, we also gather some really great qualitative feedback. Some on screen are are great. One of my favorites is a teacher sharing that their experience trying out the new dashboard was so positive that it made them excited to use it again in the fall, which is a great testament to, and really saving you all time and making it easier, to use our learning platform. And I know if you're if you're anything like me, you might be thinking in the back of your mind, oh, gosh. Did I have to learn something new? Did I have enough time? And just know, rest assured, you will have plenty of time to familiarize yourself with the new dashboard. We're slowly introducing the experience, like I said, starting in October, where you'll have the option to opt in to the new dashboard, but you can return to the classic experience at any point through a toggle feature. So don't worry, you can always go back. If you're more comfortable, you can ease into it. And then for next back to school season, which sounds so far in the future, but hopefully, you know, next learn on, I'll I'll give you even more of a of a, of a review. But, next school year, it will be the universal experience for everyone. Alright. So in terms of professional learning opportunities like LearnOn, so in addition to monthly educator webinars, I'm also excited to share some new, PD opportunities for the school year. Starting this fall, we will have an on demand EVERFI training option, available for new and returning educators. These bite sized PD offerings will help you get started with EVERFI and brush up on some new features. There will also be an opportunity to earn a professional learning certificate. Districts also have the option, I know Zach spoke to this earlier, but districts will have the option to request a more customized training option to better fit their goals if needed. Additionally, you'll see second listed, our district leader roundtable series will take a deep dive into how districts are using Portrait of a Graduate to prepare students for life beyond t 12 schools. Then lastly, excited to announce that we are launching our very own learn on podcast, in these twenty minute episodes, which will be available on our YouTube channel. It's gonna be available just in time for back to school season. So lots of good stuff on the horizon. And then, I just added this. Before we wrap up, I wanna share a brand new resource, just in time for back to school. So some of you have used this in the past, but these planning calendars highlight awareness campaigns, observances like national career development month and drug and alcohol facts, week. You'll find an effort by lesson connected to each of these dates. So you can find, you know, relevant and timely lessons to connect with these holidays. And you can find a link to this downloadable calendar, in the chat shortly or by scanning the QR code. I'll leave this up for just a second if you want. Perfect. Thanks, Mike. Alright. So we are coming to a close. Thank you for all this engagement in the chat. I would love to answer a few questions before our closing session. And you can this can be a question for for anyone on the panel. So let me take a look. A few questions about workforce. That's a that's a great question. That's a that's a course that I loved as well. That that is a course that, is no longer available, but what I have pulled hopefully, this link works. And if not, I'll do some follow-up. But you can access oh, let me try again. Yeah. You we have downloaded, some of the offline lesson plans. I know this is not the same thing as the digital learning experience, but if you wanna use, any lesson plans or discussion guides with your students, feel free. It does capture those same learning objectives. It's standards aligned. And I know that's not the same thing we would love to in the future, you know, offer more, early literacy curriculum, but the time being, yeah, that's that's no longer available in the platform. And we're sorry about that. Let me is there a way for teachers to view lessons in the same way that students see it, like a demo before signing? Absolutely. Yeah. We we we want you to feel very confident before presenting it with your students. So on the learning platform, you'll see for each course, there's a details button. If you click on details, on the very top right, it just says preview, like a little play button. If you click preview, you can go through the course just as a student would, so you can feel really confident about what you're putting in front of your students. Do you have an investing course? We do. We have, a high school investing basics course called marketplaces. Is are Everfi lessons already differentiated for special education? That's a great question. The courses are designed they're really experienced product team. We design it for universal universal design. And sometimes in our offline lessons, there are opportunities to extend the learning or break down the learning into more bite sized components. So, yeah, there's there's a lot of great options for supporting special education students. Really encourage you to oh, go for it, Donna. And no. I just wanna add too because this was also something when and when picking Everfi, as a learning platform for my students. One of the advantages of it, at the time, I was teaching in a district that also had a very, high, Spanish speaking population. And one of the things that I love about, a lot of the Everfi programs is that you do have the ability to run some of the programs in another language, which so it's a super equitable option for any of your students who maybe are struggling, or are brand new learning English. So, just throwing that out there too. Thank you, Pat. I love that firsthand experience too, and you're you're absolutely right. Few more questions while we're here. Can you use this for students in grades first through third or someone else asked specifically for third grade? Great question. For elementary school, the first thing that comes to mind would be, the compassion project for lower elementary. That's a great course for students in grades two through four. And then once they get a little bit closer to fourth grade, I know I know that's not the same thing at all, but, we have, healthier me, intro to wellness. We have the compassion project for upper elementary school, and we also have a series of sustainability courses as well for upper elementary. But, yeah, for for specifically third grade or second grade, I would recommend the compassion project. There's some really great offline lessons that, it it almost triples the size of the of the digital course itself. So you can really go in in in-depth and and and bring it, offline for your students, some paper based resources. I can do one more question. Another workforce one. Yep. And then I I will I will I'm not doing a good job of monitoring both. But if there were any issues, downloaded those offline resources from workforce, that that zip file might not have worked. But if it if it didn't work, I can always share, the resources themselves, and I can I can attach them in an email follow-up for anyone? Brandon, there's a question, which is actually a fabulous question because I'm, moving to a school district that is no longer goo like, I'm I have to teach myself how to use Canvas. And one of the questions wanted was is EVERFI compatible with Canvas? That's a great question. You know what? Compatible with ClassLink. Yeah. It's avail yeah. Or or in terms of our single sign on options, yeah, Google, ClassLink, I think Clever Canvas. Canvas. I don't I don't know what would I I might have to I might have to work with my team because I I I know that we do I know we do something to support Canvas. Yeah. But I'll have I'll have to get back. I'll I'll screenshot that that that person. So I will I will I will get back and follow-up with you. Sorry about I don't have that answer for that live. Alright. Let me see if there's any more I can do quickly. And can I just throw something out there too, Brendan? Please. Because I'm looking at some of the some of the questions too, and people wanna know about, like, you know, what would you do or how would you use these programs if, for example, you have combined classes of of different grade levels. And I just I think it's really, really helpful if you, you really preview the program first and then differentiate from there. So, like, if you find that, like I I think it's just so important to do those offline activities with the students. You know, give them the information. And and and also too, this is the thing, just because EVERFI might label it as, like, a specific grade level, don't be scared to give it to, you know, maybe, like, FutureSmart, for example. Right? I mean, FutureSmart, I I wanna say it's what? Is it is it recommended six through eight? Yeah. Okay. Zach's nodding yes. So don't be scared. Like, if you find that maybe you don't have maybe you have a student in ninth grade who's really not there yet and maybe needs that that basic knowledge first, don't be scared to use it. Right? Let's meet kids where they are and then, you know, advance them from there. Because at the end of the day, we set the expectations. Right? And the kids will meet our expect whatever whatever expectation we set, they'll meet they will definitely meet them. So, don't be scared to really experiment with all these things because there's so many great resources. And just to follow-up, thank you for that. Before we move on, I found, a YouTube video from our channel that goes over using tips for using Canvas and Everfi. So sorry I didn't have the answer live, but feel free to watch that video.
